We as human beings are built to be in relationship with one another. Whether it’s family, friends, business associates or the person we meet in the checkout line, we are all connected. Those relationships are an important part of who we are, and play a key role in what we do and who we will become.
We hear a lot about building relationships with those around us, but there is one relationship that we rarely touch on (or even consider): your relationship with yourself. It may sound odd to think in those terms, but how you feel and view yourself influences every other relationship you have – and even how successful you will be in life.
It’s important to take time out to truly look at who you are, what you stand for and celebrate you. Sometimes we use busy-ness as an excuse to avoid those nagging feelings that tell us something is wrong or out of kilter in our lives. Or maybe we’re so busy pleasing or working for others that we lose sight of who we are and just feel like we are spinning our wheels and getting nowhere fast. Either way, taking the time to look inside yourself can make all the difference in the world.
